A118) Qur'an (guz number 10)

Complete Arabic manuscript on paper, probably from Egypt, 15th/16th century.

Leaf dimensions: mm. 175 x 132; written space: mm. 120 x 90. The writing is an old-fashioned variant on the nas?i script, with medium-sized letters and showing some calligraphic solutions more similar to those of the ?ulu? style.

The text is composed by 30 pages, reporting the whole of the 10th guz? of the Koran (a guz? corresponds to one-thirtieth of the Koran).
The tenth guz? begins with the verse 41 of the sura VIII (al-'Anfal: w-a?lamu .), ending at the verse 92 of the sura IX (at-Tawba: . la ya?lamuna).

The title is marked in red ink; the leather binding dates back at the same age as the manuscript's, and has been embellished with blind-stamped decorations.
The first sheet has suffered from text loss of little importance and has been restored as well; there are some traces of use, but the manuscript is undoubtedly in good conditions.
